The Reception
Once the photographs have been taken, all the guests should proceed to the Reception room and take their places according to your table plan. Once everyone is in place, the guests should be upstanding for the Bride and Groom.
Your meal will then be served (unless you have chosen a buffet) and wine poured. Once the coffee has been served, a sparkling wine is normally served and you will be called upon to cut the Wedding Cake. The cake is then removed to the kitchen to be portioned and the speeches commence. The normal sequence is for the Bride's Father to propose a toast to the Bride and Groom. The Groom should then respond with thanks to the Bride's parents and guests and a toast to the Bridesmaids. The Best Man responds and reads out cards and messages (and usually tries to embarrass the Groom!).
